Hair Transplantation

Surgery Procedure

Starting your journey to restore your hair’s former glory can be both exhilarating and anxious. At the Hair Transplantation Clinic, we aim to ensure you’re well-informed and comfortable throughout the entire procedure. Here’s a snapshot of what to expect.

Hair Transplantation:
What is it?

Hair transplantation is a surgical procedure where we remove hair-bearing scalp sections, or grafts, from a donor area and transfer them to balding or thinning regions.

Types of Grafts:

  • Punch Grafts: These are round and contain about 10-15 hairs.
  • Mini-Grafts: These smaller grafts house about two to four hairs.
  • Micro-Grafts: These contain one to two strands.
  • Slit Grafts: We insert these into slits in the scalp and they typically hold about four to 10 strands.
  • Strip Grafts: These long and thin grafts house between 30-40 hairs.

Other Hair Restoration Techniques:

Tissue Expansion:
This modern procedure expands skin tissue to produce impressive coverage results. It has proven successful in hair transplant surgery, providing significant coverage in a short time.

Flap Surgery:
This established method has been successful for over two decades. It provides quick coverage of large bald areas, tailored to each patient’s needs. A single flap can equal over 350 punch grafts.

Scalp Reduction:

Also known as advancement flap surgery, this method removes bald scalp sections. We then advance hair-bearing scalp areas to fill the bald crown. It’s ideal for baldness at the top and back of the head but not recommended for the frontal hairline.

Before Surgery Preparations:

  • Timing: Please arrive by 7 am.
  • Hair Care: Wash your hair with regular shampoo before your surgery.
  • Dietary Restrictions: Avoid alcohol or caffeine the night before and the morning of the surgery. Eat a light breakfast.
  • Attire: Wear a button-down shirt or dress that’s easy to remove.
  • Medications: Bring any medicines prescribed by your physician. Discuss your current medications and avoid blood thinners such as aspirin or ibuprofen.
  • Hair Style and Colouring: We will need to shave the donor site; if you colour your hair, do so a few days prior. Post-surgery, wait 6-8 weeks before Colouring again, using semi-permanent dyes in the beginning.
  • Smoking: Avoid smoking as it hampers wound healing.
  • Queries: Feel free to ask questions. Our goal is to ensure that you are well-informed.

During the Procedure:

  • Entertainment: Bring your audio books or music. Make sure that it’s suitable for a general audience.
  • Breaks: Feel free to take short breaks during the procedure.
  • Lunch: If your procedure spans the whole day, we will have a lunch break. Discuss arrangements with our staff.
  • Visitors: While friends and family can’t be in the surgery room, they can visit to check on your progress.

After Surgery:

Once we complete the procedure, we will provide you with all necessary medications and post-op instructions. Following these guidelines is extremely important for optimal results and healing. At Hair Transplantation Clinic, our primary concern is your well-being and satisfaction. We use modern techniques and offer complete support throughout your hair restoration journey.
